What is WRWR and what does it involve?

In 2019, we created history by completing the first women led motorcycle relay through dozens of countries around the world. While participation in a global relay is a big part of being a WRWR member, there are other exciting reasons to join as well! We provide resources and networking connections with other women riders, and support events including relays and get togethers world wide!

Do I need to have a full license?

If joining an event, like the relay, you will be required to ride in accordance to the laws of the country you choose to ride in. Routes are planned to best accommodate as many riders as possible. In order to become a WRWR member, you must either own a bike, ride pillion, have a license, or otherwise be active in riding or obtaining your license to ride.

Are trikes and scooters welcome?

YES! Whether you’re on 3 wheels or 2, 50cc or 1000cc, all women riders are welcome!

When will the dates and the legs for the relay be released?

The first ever relay has been completed in February of 2020, but never fear, we’ll be back!

When we begin planning, dates and routes will be published on our “Routes” page in relation to each country.

How do I help support WRWR?

We greatly appreciate support in all forms and sizes! Whether you run a local business and can spread the word, want to help socially to promote us or would like to invest in our sponsorship packages to really get behind WRWR, please email ride@womenridersworldrelay.com and share your ideas with us! We also have a donation button on our top menu bar if you want to show your support by contributing towards the costs of running our global event.

How do I contact the admins?

You can email us at ride@womenridersworldrelay.com or drop us a message on Facebook. We are always happy to help! Please bear with us as we are extremely busy with organising the event outside of our normal working lives.

How long are each of the legs?

Legs will vary in distance according to how the Ambassadors of each country schedule them. All legs will be day long rides and will require overnight stops.

Who is the ambassador for my country?

Country Ambassadors are not being introduced to the group until they are ready, and they may introduce themselves to solicit help. In some cases the ambassador is still learning their role and working on getting a better idea of the scope of the relay in their region. If you have a region specific question, please contact the Regional Executive Teams found on the Our Team page.

I applied as an Ambassador and have not yet heard back?

As Ambassadors are chosen, we update the route list that’s at the top of our Facebook group in announcements.

If you DO NOT see your country listed in the top paragraph, this means an Ambassador has already been chosen.

We are only choosing one per country, but may be passing your information on to them incase they need help.

We hope that membership from each country will join together as a team in route planning.

What is a guardian?

Guardians are all registered riders. They carry and protect the baton as a group. We will be passing a baton from rider to rider all the way around the world, and we want to make sure it’s in safe hands. Guardians will carry the Baton for a full day’s ride from start to finish. This may include stops and/or events. There may also be more than one guardian per leg. In fact, we encourage as many people to sign up as possible, but it only takes one to get the job done. All costs associated with the days ride are the responsibility of the guardian, including but not limited to gas, food, lodging, border crossing, and ferry.

How will a country be divided up?

Each leg will be an entire day’s ride and will have a start point, a destination, and possibly a planned stop in the middle. In some cases the route will be predetermined, and in others it will be left up to the guardian.

Safety is riding in a large group and who will be directing those riders; what about permits and insurance?

Registration for the Guardians will provide a clear picture of how many women are signing up for any given leg. There are anticipated plans to address the above concerns, and will be put in place as the registration information comes in.

The route isn’t coming through my town, how can I participate?

The ride is not the only thing happening during the Relay. There may be events scheduled in different countries and ripple relays. This is where inspiration and community will come together. Keep an eye out on our social media for these dates, times, and locations. We can’t wait to see you there!

What is a ripple relay?

Ripple relays are extensions of the WRWR relay.

This is to help include women who are not near the relay route itself.

Ripple relays will be organised and communicated on the forum and will be organised by volunteers.

Country ambassadors are not responsible for the delivery of relays or overseeing of them, but will be happy to assist with initial advice.

Ladies wishing to organise ripple relays must do so by contacting your country ambassador. They can give you insight into the routes, times and how to organise it effectively.

My Father / Brother / Husband / Boyfriend / Cousin / Friend wants to ride with me, and they identify as being male. Can they join in?

Yes, absolutely! WRWR recognizes we need support in all shapes and sizes. Men will not be able to register as guardians, but are accepted on the ride as a companion. Each Guardian is entitled to 1 x companion and all companions must be registered. Companion registration information will be sent to each Guardian via email. Companions will be charge £5 and must complete the waiver and form in able to participate. All Companion proceeds will go towards scholarship of a woman riding the relay.

Guardianship should be taken very seriously as we need to ensure the women signing up are committed to carrying the baton through to the next Guardian/s.

If just one woman drops out, the entire world’s routes and schedules are skewed.

We have decided to provide an additional option for registration cost to help combat economical differences between countries.

£5 Guardian Sign Up (NO PACK):

This choice will not come with any merchandise but will include a digital certificate of participation. Any rider choosing the £5 (or equivalent in other currencies) registration option is still a fully participating Guardian and is entrusted in ensuring that the Baton reaches the end of the leg.

£25 Guardian Sign Up (INCLUDING Official WRWR Guardian Pack):

This cost covers the products in your special Guardian Sign Up Pack (Official Guardian T Shirt, Patch and Certificate) and any additional funds are placed back into the event to cover the costs such as website hosting and development, events, shipping etc.

Guardian T Shirts have been designed and made specifically for Guardian riders and ONLY Guardians of the baton are able to purchase them.

We are a non-profit organisation and have kept the Guardian registration fee to a low amount to ensure everybody can participate that wishes to.

Where do WRWR proceeds go?

Any remaining money after costs of sale from merchandise and Guardian sign up pack are put directly back into WRWR. This enables us to put on better events, manage ongoing costs, better improve our communications, streamline our website and much more. Once the relay has finished any remaining profits will be split between countries and donated to a charity of their choice. All proceeds from companion riders are put directly into scholarship of a woman riding the relay to help combat the global economy.

Can I ride part of a leg? / Do I still need to register as a Guardian?

We cannot allow individuals to participate in the rides if they are not registered as a Guardian. This is for liability and preparation of route planning concerns.

Your safety is our number 1 priority. By ensuring riders sign up as a Guardian for a full leg, we can ensure emergency proceedings are effectively in place and the exact location of riders from the start to finish of each leg.

It is the decision of each country ambassador if they wish to make half way points to meet up at along the route, and special arrangements may be able to be made for extreme cases, however ultimately, this is the ambassador’s decision and safety must come first.

You will still be required to sign up as a Guardian no matter the duration of the leg you take.
